Same technique as above. Used the Cubes nozzle that came with Painter. Scaled it to a little smaller than 100% painted and used Adjust Selected Colors to turn it blue. Then Scaled it a little larger and painted and used Adjust Selected Colors to take some of the orange out of it. If you have something RED and something BLUE the human eye will see the red as nearer than the blue (mostly a wavelength dependant index of refraction thing). If you play positioning/overlapping tricks it helps the illusion. The size difference and the stark contrast to the black and the star field all help too. So too does the fact that the objects are inherently 3d looking. Tile this big and just stare...don't cross your eyes or anything, it isn't a stereogram. There's a starfield nozzle available here.
